Lake Geochemistry of Ontario Compilation Project, 2019
Project Description
Lake sediment and water geochemistry published by the Ontario Geological Survey has been compiled into a database. The compilation is based on data from 45 digital data releases (MRDs) published by the OGS between 1995 and 2018. Most of the compiled data have associated Open File Reports (OFRs) which were originally published in hard copy but are now also available for download from GeologyOntario.
The database compilation contains information for over 65,000 sample locations and 5.7 million geochemical analytical values and includes quality control data. It is intended that this compilation will be updated annually.

Project Funding
The Ontario Geological Survey began as the Ontario Bureau of Mines in 1891, with a mandate to aid in promoting Ontario's mining interests. Through key collaborations and advancing geoscience data collection techniques, the organization evolved into a globally renowned survey that is now at the forefront of geological research.
Since its establishment, the Ontario Geological Survey has contributed significantly to fostering investment in Ontario, protecting public health and safety, informing environmental and land-use planning decisions, and helping the province become Canada's top mineral jurisdiction.
