Survey Description


In June 2003, a high-density lake sediment and water survey was carried out in the Kakagi Lake area, northwestern Ontario.

Lake sediment and/or water samples were collected at 1442 sites, for an average density of 1 sample per 2.6 km2.

The data are published in Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report OFR6188 and Miscellaneous Release-Data, MRD201.

The data are also part of a compilation database, Lake Geochemistry of Ontario – 2019.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 52F/3 (Harris Lake), 52F/4 (Kakagi Lake), 52F/5 (Caviar Lake) and parts of 52F/5 (Lawrence Lake) and 52F/12 (Dryberry Lake) in the Kakagi Lake area, northwestern Ontario.  The northern edge of the study area is located approximately 10 km south of Highway 17.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 115 km east of the Manitoba-Ontario border and 85 km north of the Ontario-Minnesota border.
