Survey Description
In 1997 a high-density lake sediment and water survey was carried out in the Shining Tree area, north eastern Ontario. Lake sediment and/or water samples were collected from a total of 1813 lake sites.
The data are published in Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report OFR6062 and Miscellaneous Release-Data, MRD081.
The data are also part of a compilation database, Lake Geochemistry of Ontario – 2019.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers all of NTS 41P/11 (Shining Tree) and 41P/14 (Sinclair Lake) and parts of 41P/6 (Opikinimika Lake) and 41P/15 (Matachewan) in northeastern Ontario. It is located approximately half way between the cities of Timmins and Sudbury and the centre of the study area is located approximately 120 km west of the Ontario-Quebec border.
