Survey Description
In July 2005, a high-density lake sediment and water survey was carried out in the Red Lake area, northwestern Ontario.
Lake sediment and/or water samples were collected at 1157 sites, for an average density of 1 sample per 3.3 km2.
The data are published in Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report OFR6198 and Miscellaneous Release-Data, MRD218.
The data are also part of a compilation database, Lake Geochemistry of Ontario – 2019.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers NTS 52M/1 (Pipestone Bay), 52N/4 (Red Lake), 52L/16 (Medicine Stone Lake) and 52K/13 (Madsen) in the Red Lake area, northwestern Ontario. It is located just west of Trout Lake. The centre of the study area is located approximately 78 km east of the Ontario-Manitoba border. Red Lake and Gullrock Lake lie within the eastern part of the study area.
