Survey Description
In the summer of 2000, a high-density lake sediment and water survey was carried out in the Savant Lake area, northwestern Ontario.
Lake sediment and/or water samples were collected at 1154 sites for an average density of 1 sample per 2.2 km2.
The data are published in Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report OFR6118 and Miscellaneous Release-Data, MRD122.
The data are also part of a compilation database, Lake Geochemistry of Ontario – 2019.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers most of NTS 52J/7 (Kashaweogama Lake) and parts of 52J/6 (Farrington Lake), 52J/8 (Wilkie Lake), 52J/9 (Neverfreeze Lake) and 52J/10 (De Lesseps Lake) in the Savant Lake area, northwestern Ontario. It is bounded to the north and south by latitudes 50.25°N and 50.75°N respectively. Savant Lake is located in the eastern portion of the study area and the junction of highways 599 and 516 is located in the southern part of the study area.
