Survey Description

In August 2012, a high-density lake sediment and water survey was carried out in the Current Lake area, northwestern Ontario, over an area of 650 km2, at an average density of 1 sample site per 2.8 km2.

Sample Type Number of Sites OGS Open File Report
Lake sediment (<15 cm sediment depth) 222 OFR6311
Lake sediment (>20 cm sediment depth) 211
Lake water 234

The sampling area covers a gap in the southeast corner of the Lac des Iles survey that was omitted during original sampling under Operation Treasure Hunt in 2002.

The data are published in Ontario Geological Survey (OGS) Miscellaneous Release Data, MRD325.

The data are also part of a compilation database, Lake Geochemistry of Ontario – 2019.
