Survey Description
In July 1995, a high-density lake sediment survey was carried out in the Wawang Lake-English River area, northwestern Ontario. Samples were collected at 450 sites.
The data are published in Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report OFR5940 and Miscellaneous Release Data, MRD026.
In 1998 and 2000, the samples were reanalysed and published in OFR6076 and MRD098. The report also publishes data for additional samples collected in 1993 from the area and in-fill samples collected in 1997.
The data are also part of a compilation database, Lake Geochemistry of Ontario – 2019.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers most of NTS 52G/2 (Firesteel River), 52G/7 (Petry River) and 52G/10 (Shikag Lake) in the Wawang Lake-English River area, northwestern Ontario. The centre of the study area is located approximately 158 km northwest of Thunder Bay. It is bounded to the south by 49°N latitude and to the west by 91°W longitude.
