Survey Description


In September and October 1999, lake sediment samples were collected at 3475 sites in the Foleyet-Missinaibi Lake area, northwestern Ontario, as part of Operation Treasure Hunt, Area A.

The data are published in Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report OFR6014 and Miscellaneous Release-Data, MRD054.

The data are also part of a compilation database, Lake Geochemistry of Ontario – 2019.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers most of NTS 42B (Foleyet) and all of 42G/3 (Opasatika Lake) and 42G/4 (Roche Lake) in northern Ontario.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 275 km northwest of Sudbury and 140 km west of Timmins.
