Survey Description


In September and October 1999, lake sediment samples were collected at 2467 sites in the Nakina-Longlac area, northwestern Ontario, as part of Operation Treasure Hunt, Area B.

The data are published in Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report OFR6035 and Miscellaneous Release-Data, MRD064.

The data are also part of a compilation database, Lake Geochemistry of Ontario – 2019.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 42E (Longlac), 42F (Hornepayne) and 42L (Nakina) in the Nakina-Longlac area, northwestern Ontario.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 134 km east of Lake Nipigon and 250 km northeast of Thunder Bay.  The Trans Canada Highway runs through the southern part of the study area.
