Survey Description


In southwestern New Brunswick, stream sediment and water samples were collected from 210 sites during the summer and fall of 1991.  Samples site were distributed over the 725 km2 survey area at an average of one sample per 3.5 km2.  Sample site duplicate samples were routinely collected in each analytical block of twenty samples.  The data are published in GSC Open File 2469.

This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers all of NTS 21G/3 and the west half of 21G/2 in southwestern New Brunswick.  The western part of the study area is bounded to the south by the New Brunswick/Maine border.  The central part of the survey is bounded to the west by the same Canada/U.S. border.  Passamaquoddy Bay makes up a large portion of the eastern study area and this eastern part is bounded to the south by the Bay of Fundy.
