Survey Description


Helicopter-supported sample collection was carried out in northwestern Saskatchewan during the summer of 1993.  Lake sediment and water samples were collected at 1139 sites at an average density of one sample per 12.1 km2 throughout the 13,744 square kilometres covered by the survey.  Sample site duplicate samples were collected in each analytical block of twenty samples.  The data are published in GSC Open File 2858.

In 2014, the samples were reanalyzed by ICP-MS and the data are published along with the original data from OF 2858 in GSC Open File 7746.

This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers the northern part of NTS 74N and most of 74O in northwestern Saskatchewan.  It is bounded to the south by the Athabasca Basin.
