Survey Description


During the summer of 1985, helicopter-supported lake sediment and water sampling was carried out in north central Saskatchewan.  Samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 13 km2 throughout the approximately 17 000 km2 survey area.  Sample site duplicate samples were routinely collected in each analytical block of twenty samples.  The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 1213.

The samples were reanalysed by INAA and published as GSC Open File 1644 along with the original data.

This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS sheets 73O,P, 74A,B,C in north-central Saskatchewan.  It is bounded to the southwest by the edge of the Canadian Shield, to the southeast by an area previously surveyed for NGR lake sediments in 1974, and to the north by 56°30’N.
