In 1994, 143 one kg till samples were collected from the southern and northwest Contwoyto Lake map area, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.  An additional 27 ten kg samples were collected at some of the sites for regional kimberlite indicator mineral and gold grain analysis.  The till and gold data are published in GSC Open File 3387.  The KIM data are published in GSC Open File 3386.

Quantities Analysed:

<0.002 mm fraction by ICP-AES after aqua regia digestion (3HCl:1HNO3) for 28 elements; <0.063 mm fraction by INAA for 35 elements (OF 3387).

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 76E/1-8, /12 and /13 in the Contwoyto Lake map area, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.  The southern edge of the study area is located approximately 50 km north of Lac de Gras.  Contwoyto Lake is located just north and east of the study area.
