Survey Description

Till sampling was carried out in the Dot Lake-MacLellan Mine area in northwestern Manitoba.  An orientation survey was conducted in 1982 and 1983 down ice from the MacLellan Au-Ag deposit (formerly known as the Agassiz deposit).  The sample area was expanded in 1984 and 1985 to include the Dot Lake area to trace the mineralization to the west.  A total of 382 till samples were collected from hand-dug pits as detailed below:

Year Area Number of Samples
1982 MacLellan Mine 52
1983 MacLellan Mine 204
1984 Dot Lake 46
1985 Dot Lake 80

The samples were processed for heavy minerals, including gold.  The data are published in Manitoba Energy and Mines, Open File OF87-2.

The data are also part of two compilations in Manitoba Agriculture and Resource Development Open Files OF2020-5 and OF2020-6.
