Survey Description


Helicopter-supported sample collection was carried out in northeastern Alberta during the summer of 1993.  Lake sediment and water samples were collected at 1160 sites at an average density of one sample per 19 km2 throughout the 22,100 square kilometres covered by the survey.  Sample site duplicate samples were collected in each analytical block of twenty samples.  The data are published in GSC Open File 2856.

This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 74E, 74L and 74M in northeastern Alberta.  Bounded to the west by the Slave River on 74M and by the Athabasca River on the southern portion of 74L and on 74E.  Lake Athabasca covers the central part of the study area.
