Survey Description


In September 2012, till samples were collected in the Łue Túé Sųlái Candidate Protected Area (Five Fish Lakes area), south central Northwest Territories.  The work was part of a non-renewable resource assessment of minerals and focused on the Jean Marie River area.  The lack of suitable landing sites resulted in only 12 samples being collected.

The samples were processed for kimberlite indicator minerals (KIM), magmatic/metamorphosed massive sulphide indicator minerals (MMSIM) and gold grains.

The data are published in Northwest Territories Geoscience Office (NTGO) NWT Open File 2013-03.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 95H/2 (untitled) and 95H/7 (Jean-Marie Creek), the Five Fish Lakes area (Łue Túé Sųlái) of south-central Northwest Territories.  The study area is located approximately 60 km south of Fort Simpson and the confluence of the Liard and Mackenzie rivers and approximately 55 km northeast of Trout Lake.  The Mackenzie Highway runs NW-SE through the eastern part of the study area.
