Survey Description

In September 1950, waters from streams and rivers as well as several springs were sampled in the Gaspé Peninsula area, Quebec.  Water samples were collected near the mouths of primary rivers and at intervals upstream.  The main tributaries of the rivers were sampled where possible.  The area covers 27000 km 2.  A total of ninety-one 400 ml samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 241.1 km 2 and analysed for heavy metals (colorimetry diphenylthiocarbazone) and for pH.  More detailed sampling was carried out in the area of the Holland Gaspé Claims.

The data are published in preliminary report RP-268, Department of Mines, 1952.
