Survey Description

In 1978 and 1979, SOQUEM carried out field work to assess the economic potential of certain targets located within the boundaries of the future Gaspésie Park (eventually established in 1981) as part of an agreement with Ministère des richesses naturelles.  These targets were defined by MRN during work carried out between 1965 and 1972.  In addition to detailed work on the targets, reconnaissance and detailed work was carried out within the boundaries of the future park.

The following samples were collected:

Sample Type Number of Samples
Stream sediments 674
Lake bottom sediments 121
Soil 5437
Rocks 270

Geophysical studies and drilling were also carried out.

The data are published in GM38383, SOQUEM assessment work submitted to the Government of Quebec.
