Survey Description
During the summer of 1978, helicopter-supported lake sediment and water sampling was carried out in central Labrador. The samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 13 km2. Sample site and grid cell duplicate samples were routinely collected in each analytical block of twenty samples. The data were published in GSC Open File 560 in 1979. In 1982, the samples were reanalysed for Hg and republished in GSC Open Files 903 (23G, H) and 904 (23I, J). The samples were later reanalysed by INAA in 1988 and republished in GSC Open Files 2037 (23I, J)/Newfoundland Department of Mines and Energy Open File LAB 836 and GSC Open File 2475 (23G, H).
Data from this survey is part of a compilation published in GSC Open File 8348 (geochemical atlas).
This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers parts of NTS sheets 23I (northern three quarters), 23J (eastern half), 23G (northeast quadrant), and 23H (northwest corner) in Labrador. It is bounded to the north by Quebec.
