Survey Description

Over 1700 till samples were collected in 1985-1987 in the central Miramichi Zone and vicinity in New Brunswick.  The data are published in GSC Open File 2237.  A final report on the Miramichi Zone, including stratigraphy and till geochemistry was published in GSC Bulletin 433.  89 samples from NTS 21O/2 were reanalyzed by XRF and published in GSC Open File 2246.  161 samples from NTS 21O/1 were reanalyzed by XRF and published in GSC Open File 2560.

Approximately 50 samples were used in a heavy mineral study published in New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources Open File Reports 91-11 and 92-7.

Data Description:

Paper report; digital data.

Quantities Analysed:

<0.002 mm fraction by AAS after HCl:HNO3 (1:3) for 10 elements; by colorimetric method for As; by specific ion electrode for F; by colorimetric methods for As and W; by fluorometric method for U; and by XRF for Sn.  <0.063 mm fraction by INAA for 11 elements; by CV-AAS for Hg; by AAS for As and Sb; and by fire assay-INAA for Au

Geochem Maps Available:

Proportional symbol maps show the distribution of selected elements.

The data have also been published as part of a compilation for NTS 21O, 21N and 22B in New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development Open File OF 2021-2.
