Survey Description
In 1989, stream sediments were collected at 2132 sites in the Mauricie-Portneuf area, Quebec at a density of 1 sample per 10 km2. At each site, two samples were collected: a ~0.5 kg sample of fine sediment and a second sample that was collected by shovel and sieved in the field to < 850 µm to obtain 4 L for the processing of heavy minerals.
Samples were collected in two field campaigns, one in the summer carried out by Géorex Inc., and the other in the fall carried out by Consorminex.
The area of La Mauricie National Park was not sampled.
The data are published in Ministère de l'Énergie et des Ressources du Québec MB 92-18.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:
-
Covers parts of NTS 31I (Trois-Rivières), 31O (Lac Kempt), 31P (La Tuque) and 21M (Baie-Saint-Paul) in the Mauricie-Portneuf area, Quebec. It is located approximately 93 km north-northwest from the town of Trois-Rivières. It extends from 75.5°W longitude in the west to 71°W longitude in the east.
-
Covers a small part of NTS 31I (Trois-Rivières), the area of La Mauricie National Park, Quebec. It represents an area that was not sampled during the 1989 alluvial heavy minerals study of the Mauricie-Portneuf area.
