Survey Description


During the summer of 1983, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted by the firm Geomines Ltée, in the Mont-Joli area, Quebec.  The area covers 3200 km2.  A total of 6119 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.5 km2.  Samples were analyzed for:

 

Element Dissolution Technique
U   fluorimetry
Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Co, Mn, Fe, Ag, Ba, Mo, As   atomic absorption (AAS)
Loss on ignition (LOI)    

 

The data are published in Open File DV 85-20, Department of Energy and Resources, 1987.  Raw data are published in Open File MB 85-63.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 22B/4 (Lac Dunphy), /5 (Lac Veillard), /12 (Sayabec) and 22C/1 (Lac Prime), /8 (Sainte-Blandine), /9 (Mont-Joli).  The Mont-Joli area is situated in the Gaspé region.  It is bounded by latitudes 48° and 48°40' and longitudes 67°30' and 68°33'.
