Survey Description


During the summer of 1976, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Sutton area, Quebec.  The area covers 500 km2.  A total of 64 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 7.8 km2. These samples were analysed for:

 

Element Dissolution Technique
Ag, Co, Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Zn, Sn, As, Hg   atomic absorption
Loss on ignition (LOI)    
U   paper chromatography

 

The data are published in Open File DPV-681, Department of Energy and Resources, 1980.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 31H/2 (Cowansville).  The western half of the Sutton area is situated in the Montérégie region.  It includes Rivière aux Brochets and Rivière Yamaska Sud-Est.  It is bounded by latitudes 45° and 45°15' and longitudes 72°45' and 73°.
