Survey Description


During the summers of 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1976, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the townships of Opémisca and Cuvier, Quebec.  The area covers 300 km2.  A total of 297 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per km2.  Samples were screened to obtain the <177 microns fraction and theses fractions were analysed for:

U   paper chromatography
Mo   visual colorimetry

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 32G/14 (Lac des Orignaux), /15 (Chapais), 32J/2 (Lac Claire), /3 (Lac à l'Eau Noire). Opémisca and Cuvier townships are located in the Abitibi area. It is situated 40 km west of Chibougamau. It is bounded by latitudes 49°52' and 50°02' and longitudes 74°48' and 75°09'.
