Survey Description

Truck-supported, sample collection was carried out from July to October 2012 on northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, in an area of approximately 10,000 km2.  A total of 721 moss-trapped sediment samples plus water were acquired from 681 stream sites.

Due to unusually dry weather, water could not be sampled at some of the sites.  Sediment material recovered from the moss-mats typically consisted of approximately 2 kg of fine silt to sand sized sediment with varying amounts of coarser gravels and organic constituents.

Duplicate samples were routinely collected in each analytical block of 20 samples.

The data are published in Geoscience BC Report 2013-11.

This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.
