Survey Description
As part of EXTECH-I, regional till sampling was carried out in 1990 in the Snow Lake area, west-central Manitoba. A total of 130 samples (114 C horizon; 16 B horizon) were collected from hand-dug pits at 108 sites. Sampling was restricted to areas of easy access along roads, power lines and lake shores between File Lake and Morton Lake to the west and the Osborne Lake mine to the east. The density of sample sites is variable. In 1991, the sampling was expanded to include 159 till samples from 145 sites as well as 142 humus samples.

Quantities Analysed:
<0.002 mm fraction of C-horizon till for 10 elements by AAS after aqua regia leach; for Hg and As by hydride generation AAS; for 31 elements by ICP-ES after aqua regia leach; for 7 elements by sequential extraction techniques.
<0.63 mm fraction of C-horizon till for Au + 34 elements by INAA; for 31 elements by ICP-ES following aqua regia leach.
<0.177 mm fraction of humus for 31 elements by ICP-ES after aqua regia; the soluble organic fraction of humus for 7 elements after Na4P2O7 leach; the insoluble inorganic residue for 7 elements by sequential extraction techniques.
Geochem Maps Available:
