Project Description

The Fury and Hecla Geoscience Project (FHGP) was led by the Canada-Nunavut Geoscience Office in collaboration with Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, and researchers and students from Laurentian University, McGill University and Université du Québec à Montréal. The surficial geology component of the multiyear project involved mapping and sampling of Quaternary surficial deposits and features.

The data are published in Canada-Nunavut Geoscience Office (CNGO) Geoscience Data Series GDS2020-001 and GDS2021-001.

Project Funding

Funding for the Fury and Hecla Project has been provided by the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) under the Strategic Investments in Northern Economic Development program delivered through the Government of Nunavut to the Canada-Nunavut Geoscience Office (CNGO).  Funding was also provided through a Strategic Partnership Grant (#506660) from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
