Survey Description

In July 2019, till samples were collected at 47 sites in the Jungersen River area, on northwestern Baffin Island, Nunavut.  This survey is a continuation of work started in 2018.

Till was sampled from frost boils between 0 and 30 cm from the surface.  At each site, ~2 kg of material was collected for geochemical and sedimentological analyses.  At 42 sites, ~8 kg of till was collected for heavy mineral analysis.  Till pebble lithologies (>2 cm) were counted in the field to complement provenance studies.

The work is described in Canada-Nunavut Geoscience Office (CNGO) Summary of Activities 2020. The data are published in CNGO Geoscience Data Series GDS2021-001.
