Download analytical data for this bundle in one of three formats, depending on the desired convention for treating values below the lower detection limit:
Total carbon, organic and inorganic carbon contents, and loss on ignition (LOI) were determined for the <0.063 mm fractions using the LECO®CR-412 Carbon Analyzer at the GSC, Ottawa. Samples were heated to 1350ºC to determine percentages of total inorganic carbon and total carbon through infrared detection of liberated CO2. Samples were then heated for 1 hour at 500ºC to determine the LOI. Data are reported in Appendix B1 of GSC Open File 7967.
An additional portion of the <0.063 mm fraction was used for determination of calcite and dolomite contents using the UIC CM5015 Coulometer/Acid Evolution Method following the method described by Girard et al. (2004). For every sample, the CO2 was below the detection limit (0.05%) for the instrument.
