Bundle Description

Geochemical results of till samples surveyed in the Nepisiguit Lakes region of north central New Brunswick are presented.  This area of New Brunswick corresponds to NTS map sheet 21O/7.

The soil and basal till (< 63 micron) samples were analysed for 34 trace elements using instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA).  Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) with an air acetylene flame was used to determine 9 trace elements (Ag, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn).  Determination of Mo and V was done by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) using a nitrous oxide acetylene flame.  Sn was determined by hydride atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS).  As and Sb were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry using a hydride evolution method (HY-AAS).  Fluorine (F) was determined using a fluoride ion specific electrode (F ISE).  Hg was analysed using cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (Hg-CVAAS).  Uranium was determined using a neutron activation method with delayed neutron counting (U NADNC).  Loss on ignition (LOI) was determined using a 500 mg sample.  The analyses were performed by Bondar-Clegg and Company Ltd. in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Till samples were dry sieved using an 8 inch sieve shaker.  The <63 µm fraction was analysed for 34 trace trace elements using instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA).  Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) was used to analyse 9 elements + Mo, V (nitrous oxide acetylene flame) + Sn (hydride atomic absorption spectrometry).  As and Sb were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry using a hydride evolution method (HY-AAS).  Fluorine was determined by using a using a fluoride ion specific electrode (F ISE).  Mercury analysis was done by cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (Hg-CVAAS).  Uranium was determined using a neutron activation method with delayed neutron counting (U NADNC).  Loss on ignition (LOI) was determined using a 500 mg sample.  The analyses were performed by Bondar Clegg and Company Ltd. in Vancouver, British Columbia.
