Survey Description


Rock samples were collected in the Meliadine gold district, southern Nunavut.  No sampling year was given.  Detailed samples were collected from exploration drill core and a smaller subset (n=32) was collected from outcrops along the all-season road that links Rankin Inlet with the Meliadine exploration camp.

The data, including pXRF results, are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 7711.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 55J/13 (Falstaff Island), 55K/16 (Rankin Inlet) and 55N/1 (Meliadine Lake), southern Nunavut.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 18 km north-northwest from the hamlet of Rankin Inlet.
