Survey Description


In June 1995, a follow-up biogeochemical survey was carried out near the southern end of Shubenacadie Grand Lake in central Nova Scotia to follow up on elevated gold values in samples collected the previous year.  Samples of balsam fir and red spruce were collected from 90 sites along with a few water, rock and till samples.

The work is summarized in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 3221 (p. 23) and the data are included in the files published with the open file.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers part of NTS 11D/13 (Mount Uniacke) in central Nova Scotia, just east of the southern part Shubenacadie Grand Lake.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 26 km north of the city of Halifax.

  • Covers part of NTS 11D/13 (Mount Uniacke) in central Nova Scotia, just southwest of the southern part Shubenacadie Grand Lake.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 26 km north-north-west of the city of Halifax.
