Survey Description


Between July 28th and August 11th, and between September 5th and 15th, 2004, 893 till, beach sand, stream, esker and marine sediment samples were collected within the South Aviat Property on the southeastern portion of the Melville Peninsula in central Nunavut Territory.  The sampled area is situated approximately 250 km southwest of the town of Igloolik and covers parts of NTS map sheets 46F, G, J, K, L, M, N, O, and P.  The samples were collected by APEX Geosciences Ltd. on behalf of Stornoway Diamond Corp. and by BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc. as part of a follow-up diamond exploration program on the Melville Peninsula.  The data can be found in Nunavut Assessment Report 084770.
