Survey Description

During the summer of 2018, till samples were collected in an area between Aylmer Lake and the western edge of the Thelon Game Sanctuary, Nunavut and Northwest Territories.  Samples were collected at 40 sites, including along 2 transects.

At each site, a small (~3kg) and a large (~12kg) sample were carefully taken at an average depth of 60 cm, mainly from inactive and active frost boils. The samples were submitted for compositional (textural, geochemical and clast lithology), indicator mineral and gold grain analyses.

A summary of the work is found in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 8586 and the data are published in GSC OF 8808.
