Survey Description

Between 1997 and 2014, six boreholes were drilled in the Greater Toronto area, Ontario.  Geochemical analyses by pXRF spectrometry were completed on sediments collected from the holes as detailed below:

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 30M/11 (Toronto), 30M/14 (Markham) and 31D/03 (Newmarket), around the Queensville and High Park boreholes, in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario.  It extends from just north of Lake Ontario northward to the rural community of Queensville.

  • Covers small parts of NTS 30M/15 (Oshawa) and 31D/02 (Scugog), around the Clarington and Purple Woods boreholes in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontairo.  It is located close to the Purple Woods Conservation Area, and the centre of the study area is located approximately 11 km southeast from the town of Port Perry.

  • Covers a very small part of NTS 30M/11 (Toronto) around the Warden borehole, in Toronto, Ontario.  It is located on the grounds of the Warden Avenue Junior Public School.  It is located approximately 4 km north of Lake Ontario.

  • Covers a very small part of NTS 30M/14 (Markham), around the Aurora borehole, in the Greater Toronto Area.  It is located approximately 2.5 km southeast of the town of Aurora, Ontario.
