Survey Description

In 2005 and 2006, a total of 120 till samples were collected along the north part of the Thompson Nickel Belt, in central Manitoba, including areas west and east of the belt.  Sites included mine properties, road cuts, borrow pits, river sections and backhoe trenches at varying distances down-ice from the Thompson and Pipe mines.  The data are published as follows:

GSC Open File Sample Type Data
6005 till geochemistry
6766 bedrock indicator minerals
7200 till indicator minerals
7310 till, bedrock iron oxide compositions

The data were also presented as part of a workshop at Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada convention in 2013 and the PowerPoint® presentation can be found in GSC Special Presentation 38.

The data are also part of two compilations: Geological Survey of Canada Open File 7064 and Manitoba Agriculture and Resource Development Open File OF2020-3.
