Survey Description
During the summer of 1978, helicopter-supported lake sediment and water sampling was carried out on the eastern shore of Lake Superior, Ontario. The samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 13 km2. Sample site and grid cell duplicate samples were routinely collected in each analytical block of twenty samples. The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 554 in 1979.
The samples were reanalysed by INAA and republished in GSC Open File 2361 along with the original data from OF 554.
This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers NTS sheets 41K and N in Ontario. It is bounded to the east by Lake Superior, and to the south by the US border. It excludes islands in Lake Superior.
