Survey Description
Till and humus samples were collected in the Kaminak Lake area, Kivalliq region, Nunavut in 1999. The samples were collected near Hg-rich sources identified in the 1997 survey. In addition, sphagnum peat, detailed mineral and organic soil profiles as well as lake water samples were collected at selected sites. The data are published in GSC Open File 4089.

Paper report; CD-ROM (PDF and Excel).
Quantities Analysed:
<0.063 mm, <0.002 mm and <2 mm fractions by ICP-AES, by CV-AAS and Milestone for Hg, and by various methods for metal speciation-selective extraction analysis on selected samples.
Geochem Maps Available:
None.
Other Analyses:
Pebble lithologies (2-4 cm fraction); carbonate (<0.063 mm, <0.002 mm and <2 mm (Chittick and LECO)); LOI; <0.002 mm by X-ray diffraction for clay mineralogy; heavy mineral concentrate for point counts.
