Survey Description


In 2010, a total of 5,751 lake bottom sediment samples was collected over a surface area of 74,000 km2 with a sampling density of 1 sample per 13 km2.  The distance between adjacent samples was kept within an interval of 2.8 to 4.2 km.

The work is summarized in Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune report PRO 2011-02.  The data are available from the Sigéom web site.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 22D (Chicoutimi), 22E (Reservoir Pipmuacan), 22L (Lac Peribonca), 32I (Baie Abatagouche) and parts of 21M (Baie-Saint-Paul), 22M (Lac Pletipi) and 32P (Lac Baudeau) in the Sageunay-Lac-Saint-Jean area, Quebec.  It extends from the Saint Lawrence River in the south, northward past Lac Mistassini.  The northern part of the study area is located approximately 150 km west of Manicouagan Reservoir.
