In 2008, lake bottom sediment sampling was carried out in two areas :

Geographic Extent

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers most of NTS 31N (Grand-Lac-Victoria), part of 31M (Ville-Marie) and a small part of 32C (Senneterre) in the Val d’Or area, Quebec.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 90 km southeast from the town of Val d’Or.  Highway 117 runs north-south across the study area.

  • Covers all of NTS 32G (Rivière Mistassini), most of 32A (Roberval) and 32B (Réservoir Gouin) and parts of 32G (Chibougamau) and 31P (La Tuque), Quebec.  The study area is found between Chibougamau and La Tuque.  It is bound to the east by 72°W longitude.  The western part of Lac Saint-Jean is located in the eastern part of the study area.
