Survey Description

In 1989, lake bottom sediments were collected in the Basse-Côte-Nord area, Quebec.  The sampling density was 1 sample per 13 km2.  It is unclear if the samples were analysed at that time.

In 2009, the samples were analysed with samples from 2 other regional surveys (Minganie in 1988 and Baie-Johan Beetz in 1983) by ICP-MS.

A description of the work and geochemical maps of some of the data can be found in Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune du Québec PRO 2009-02.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers all of NTS 12J (Harrington Harbour) and 12O (Saint-Augustin), most of 12K (Musquaro) and 12N (Rivière Natashquan) and the west half of 12P (Blanc-Sablon) in the Basse-Côte-Nord region of Quebec.  It is bounded to the north by the Quebec-Labrador border and to the southeast by the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
