Survey Description

In 1984, a lake sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Lac Otelnuk area, Quebec.  The area covers approximately 16,900 km2.  A total of 7026 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 2.4 km2.

Samples were analyzed for Ag, Al, B, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Eu, Fe, Hg, K, La, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, P, Sc, Sm, Sn, Sr, Th, Ti, U, V, Y, Zn, pH and loss on ignition.

The data are published in Open File DP 87-14, Department of Energy and Resources.  A total of 5845 samples were also analyzed for As and Au and the results are published in Open File DP 86-26.

Data from this survey are part of a compilation of lake sediments from Quebec and Labrador published in GSC Open File 8348 (geochemical atlas).
