Survey Description

During the summer of 1980, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Kazabazua area, Quebec.  The area covers 1900 km 2.  A total of 3363 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.6 km 2.  Sampling was carried out along creeks and spaced at 500 m intervals.

Samples were analyzed for:

Element Dissolution Technique
Ag, Al, B, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Eu, Fe, K, La, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, P, Pb, Sc, Sm, Sr, Th, Ti, V, Y, Zn

HNO 3

plasma emission
U   fluorimetry
As, Hg   atomic absorption (AAS)
Loss on ignition (LOI)

The data are published in Open File DV 83-10, Department of Energy and Resources, 1985.  In 1988, samples were reanalyzed for As, Au, Br, Cs, Sb, Se, Tm and W (neutron activation) and results are published in Open File DP 88-14.
