Survey Description
During the summer of 1983, a lake sediment sampling survey was conducted by Ovaltex Inc. in the Rivière à la Baleine area, Quebec. The area covers 41,600 km2. A total of 3004 samples were collected by helicopter, at an average density of 1 sample per 12 km2. When possible, samples were collected on lakes with a surface area of approximately 1 km2.
Samples were analyzed for:
Element | Dissolution | Technique |
Ag, Al, B, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Eu, Fe, K, La, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Ni, P, Pb, Sc, Sm, Sr, Th, Ti, V, Y, Zn | inductively coupled plasma emission (ICP-ES) | |
U | fluorimetry | |
Loss on ignition (LOI) |
The data are published in Open File DP 84-43, Department of Energy and Resources, 1984. In 1987, additional data (As, Ba, Ce, F, Hg, Ti and pH) were published in Open File DP 86-22.
Data from this surveyare part of a compilation of lake sediments from Quebec and Labrador published in GSC Open File 8348 (geochemical atlas).
