Survey Description


During the summer of 1986, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted by the firm Minorex Inc., in the Beauce-Estrie area, Quebec.  The area covers 7000 km2.  A total of 11,316 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.6 km2.  The < 177 micron fraction was analyzed for:

 

Element Dissolution Technique
Cu, Zn, Pb, Ni, Co, Mn, Mo   atomic absorption (AAS)
Au, As, Br, Cs, Sb, Se, Tm, U, W   neutron activation (INAA)
Loss on ignition (LOI)    

 

The data are published in Open File MB 89-42, Department of Energy and Resources, 1990.  Data from Open File DPV-822 are also included in this document.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers most of NTS 21E (Sherbrooke) and the south half of 21L (Quebec).  The Beauce-Estrie area is located in the Estrie region.  Its eastern side is bordered by the USA.  It is bounded by latitudes 45°15' and 46°30' and longitudes 70° and 72°.
