Survey Description


During the summer of 1987, a soil sampling survey was conducted by the G.P.R. Company Inc., in the Chibougamau-Chapais area, Quebec.  The area covers 2000 km2.  A total of 1653 samples from horizon Oh, H or Ah, were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 2.5 km2.  Samples were analyzed for:

Au, As, W, Sb, Br, Cs, Se, Tm, U   neutron activation (INAA)
Hg   flameless atomic absorption (F-AAS)
Loss on ignition (LOI)

  • Covers NTS 32G/15 (Chapais), /16 (Chibougamau).  The Chibougamau-Chapais area is located in the Nord-du-Québec region.  It is bounded by latitudes 49°45' and 50° and longitudes 74° and 75°.
