Survey Description


In 1987-1988, a base till sampling survey was conducted in the Galipeau Quarry and Huntingdon areas, Quebec.  The Galipeau Quarry area covers 55 km2 and the Huntingdon area covers 30 km2.  A total of 576 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.15 km2.  The <177 micron fraction was analyzed for:

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers part of NTS 31G/1 (Huntingdon).  The Galipeau area is located in the southwestern part of Valleyfield, Montérégie region.  It is situated north-northwest by the St. Lawrence River and the Canal de Beauharnois.  It is bounded by latitudes 45°09'44" and 45°11' and longitudes 74°03' and 74°14'25".

  • Covers part of NTS 31G/1 (Huntingdon).  The Huntingdon area is located in the southwestern part of Valleyfield, Montérégie region.  It includes Rivière Châteauguay.  It is bounded by latitudes 45°06' and 45°07' and longitudes 74°09' and 74°19'.
