Survey Description


During the summers of 1977 and 1978, a groundwater sampling survey was conducted in the Montauban area, Quebec.  The area covers 1536 km2.  A total of 245 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 6.3 km2.  Samples were analyzed for As, Ca, Cd, Cl, Co, Cu, F, Fe, Li, Mn, Mg, Hg, Mo, Ni, Pb, K, Na, U, Zn.

The data are published in Open File MB 87-12, Department of Energy and Resources, 1987.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 31I/9 (Grondines), /10 (Shawinigan), /15 (Rivière-Mekinac), /16 (Notre-Dame-de-Montauban).  The Montauban area is situated in the Mauricie region.  It is located 90 km west of Quebec city and 50 km northeast of Trois-Rivières.  It is bounded by latitudes 46°33' and 46°56' and longitudes 72°13' and 72°38'.
