Survey Description


During the summer of 1982, a soil sampling survey was conducted in the St-Laurent de Gallichan area, Quebec.  The area covers 17 km2.  A total of 196 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.09 km2.  Samples were analyzed for:

 

Element Dissolution Technique
Ag, As, Co, Cu, Sn, Mn, Hg, Mo, Ni, Pb, Zn   atomic absorption (AAS)
U   fluorimetry
Loss on ignition (LOI)    

 

Approximately 1000 samples were collected in surrounding areas.  The data are published in Open Files MB 86-65 and GM-40552.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers part of NTS 32D/11 (Palmarolle).  The Saint-Laurent de Gallichan area is situated in the Abitibi region.  It is located 45 km northwest of Rouyn-Noranda and 10 km northwest of Duparquet.  It is bounded by latitudes 48°32' and 48°37'30" and longitudes 79°12' and 79°18'.
