Survey Description


In 1985, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Grandes-Bergeronnes and Sault-au-Mouton area, Quebec.  The area covers 495 km2.  A total of 1050 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.5 km2.  Samples were analyzed for:

Ag, Al, B, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Eu, Fe, K, La, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, P, Pb, Sc, Sm, Sr, Th, Ti, V, Y, Zn   inductively coupled plasma emission (ICP-ES)
U   fluorimetry
As, Hg   atomic absorption (AAS)
Au pyrohydrolyse atomic absorption (AAS)
Loss on ignition (LOI)

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 22C/5 (Lac de Pons), /6 (Les Escoumins), /11 (Saint-Paul-du-Nord), /12 (Lac Larrey).  The Grandes-Bergeronnes and Sault-au-Mouton area is situated in the Côte-Nord region.  It is bounded by latitudes 48°15' and 48°34' and longitudes 69°14' and 69°40'.
